Ara Hills is the home of a new village based community of around 700 homes on 84ha of rolling hill country just 3km from Orewa village. On its eastern boundary, the site borders State Highway 1 and is directly accessible from the motorway exit at Grand Drive.
To the west is the 128ha Nukumea Reserve. This Department of Conservation-owned land features pristine native bush and provides a stunning green backdrop to Ara Hills which is alive with wildlife and birds.
