Lyndarum North, Wollert, VIC.
At Lyndarum North we believe local groups and organisations are integral to the fabric of our community. With this in mind, we established our Community Grants Program with the aim of reinforcing our support for the significant work these groups undertake within the Whittlesea community.
We are thrilled to announce the successful recipients of the 2021 program and the fantastic projects this funding will go towards.
Whittlesea Community Connections
Whittlesea Community Connections (WCC) is a local, independent and community-led organisation that provides a range of free and confidential support services and programs for those in need. WCC will utilise the grant funding for information sessions and workshops for people in the local area.
Whittlesea Bicycle Users Group
The Whittlesea Bicycle Users Group organise social rides for cyclists of all skill levels. Rides are held regularly on Sunday, including twilight rides in Summer. Whittlesea BUG also organise classes and workshops to educate cyclists on basic bicycle repair skills and cycling skills. Whittlesea BUG will be using their grant funding for training programs aimed at women and teenager girls.
Edgars Creek Primary School
Edgars Creek Primary School is a newly established primary school in the suburb of Wollert. The school operates in learning communities which means students have a homegroup teacher and work with numerous teachers in their community for different subjects. Wellbeing is their main focus. The school’s motto is ‘Learning together for success.’ The school plans to use the grant funding to:
- Set-up new clubs for children to collaborate and learn
- Purchase new toys that are essential for learning and development
Northside Muslim Circle
Northside Muslim Circle was formed in response to a need for engagement, connection and services for the growing Muslim community in the northern suburbs of Melbourne, particularly in the City of Whittlesea. Northside Muslim Circle will use the grant to hire a venue for meetings.
Creeds Farm and Learning Centre
Creeds Farm Living and Learning Centre is a local Neighbourhood House that works with a range of communities; particularly those who are socially isolated, experiencing disadvantage or domestic violence. Creeds Farm and Learning Centre will use the funding to run social activities for a Connecting Women Group.
Wollert and District Fire Brigade
Wollert District Fire Brigade is a 100% volunteer fire brigade made up of local community members committed to protecting lives and properties since 1942 through emergency response and fire safety education. Wollert and District Fire Brigade will use the grant to construct a much needed hose drying tower.
Lalor Landcare
Lalor Landcare is an urban based ‘Landcare’ Group. The principal activities of the group are litter collection, revegetation work and (in the future) wildlife surveys and nesting box placement. Lalor Landcare will utilise the grant to source seeds from extant River Red Gum trees at Lyndarum/Lyndarum North that will be nurtured into small trees and planted along the banks of Edgars Creek.
Epping Little Athletics Club
Epping Little Athletics Club was established in 1980. It is a progressive club that promotes the Little Athletics values of Fun, Family, Fitness and being your BEST. It’s not all about winning. It’s about making new friends in the local community and being part of a Team. Epping LAC will use the funding to purchase training equipment for volunteers and sporting equipment for athletes.
