Former Australian cricket captain, Steve Waugh AO, was known as much for his resilience and perseverance as he was for his outstanding ability with bat and ball.

During his stellar career, he stared down some intimidating opponents through sheer willpower and his ability to galvanise a team.

Waugh has employed these same attributes to inspire AVJennings and its suppliers to build another home in the Renee series which will be sold to raise money for children and young people with rare diseases.

These children often need their own willpower and resilience just to get through one day. Many of them have diseases so rare, that there is little or no funding to find a cure or support them with vital equipment.

That’s where the Steve Waugh Foundation comes in. For more than ten years, the foundation has provided equipment and services to families supporting children and young people with rare diseases.

“ We believe that no one should stand alone particularly when confronted with living with a rare disease. We aim to stand beside children and families we support to enable real and genuine outcomes that change lives for the better’, Mr Waugh said.

Iconic residential community developer, AVJennings, is proud to be the inaugural corporate partner of the foundation and it continues to help it raise money in a variety of ways, including the sale of a house and land.

AVJennings NSW State General Manager, George Diniakos, said the company’s suppliers jumped at the chance to build the fifth home in the Renee series.

“It’s the Aussie way to lend a hand and once again our suppliers have been so generous with their time and products to help us build this innovative home which will raise much needed funds for the Steve Waugh Foundation,” Mr Diniakos said.

The innovative ‘dual key’ home is located in the sought-after Evergreen community, located in Spring Farm; an ever-expanding suburb in Sydney’s thriving south-west growth corridor.

The Renee series is named in honour of Renee Eliades who is an ambassador for the Steve Waugh Foundation and one of its recipients. The foundation has been supporting Renee for several years by paying for oxygen bottles that allow her greater independence and mobility and a higher quality of life.

The home is expected to be completed by the middle of this year with all profits from the sale going to the Steve Waugh Foundation.
