Cadence, Ripley QLD

Weekend fun for everyone.

Things to do, close to you, that won't break the bank!

Sometimes, coming up with cheap, fun weekend activities to do with your family can be difficult. So, I thought it was important to share some fun activities that you can enjoy that aren't too far away from Ripley, that the whole family can get excited about. Below I’ve listed a few activities that won’t break the bank but will be super fun for the whole family.

1. Ipswich Nature Centre - Free Entry

The Ipswich Nature Centre is basically on your doorstep and guess what? It’s totally free to enter! Talk about bucking the trend when it comes to zoos and their entry price tags. Here you can get the fun of the zoo without any hassle and without spending a cent.

Ipswich Nature Centre is located within the grounds of Queens Park and there is heaps of parking onsite. A boardwalk guides you around the animal enclosures. The exhibits have been designed to reflect local bushland and flora communities, and sit within a lush, shady garden.

There are kangaroos, emus, snakes, lots of water birds and heaps of lizards running around. I can’t forget to mention the gorgeous little wombats and koalas as well, plus so many more animals to see.

Queens Park has plenty of room for a picnic, as well as barbecue facilities so make sure you pack what you need. It will be a such fun day out for everyone.

2 Ripley Markets - Free Entry

The Ripley Markets are located in South Ripley, which is less than a 5-minute drive from Cadence and, it’s FREE ENTRY! They are held every second Saturday from 3.00–8.00pm. With over 60 stalls featuring live music, delicious food stalls from all around the world, handmade homewares, fantastic fashion & farm animals, jumping castle & more, there’s truly something here for everyone!

Remember, the markets are pooch, pram & wheelchair friendly for everyone to enjoy.

3. Orion Lagoon, Springfield Lakes - Free Entry

To cool off during the hot summer months, you can’t go past Orion Lagoon, less than 15-minutes by car from Ripley. Situated within the Orion Springfield Central, Orion Lagoon has a huge amount of shallow pools & water features.

There are pools that cater for all age groups, so bring everyone down for a swim & a relax. Shade sails & trees provide an escape from the hot summer sun, but always remember to slip, slop & slap. There’s also grassed areas, perfect for a picnic with the family or if you prefer, you can take advantage of the Lagoon Café & other nearby eating places. I know where I’ll be next summer!

4. Limestone Park - Free Entry

If it’s wide, green spaces you’re looking for then Limestone Park at Eastern Heights is just the park for you. Only a short drive from Ripley, the family will be kicking the footy ball in no time. Limestone Park has picnic tables & barbecues with drinking water, gazebos and other shelters so the whole family can enjoy the pleasant surroundings. Bring along a cricket set, soccer ball, roller blades or any other outdoor activities the kids can enjoy and let them go wild. There is also a playground for the younger ones. They will all be tuckered out after a big day at the park & they’ll sleep like babies.
